7 Days Machame Route
Machame Route 7-Day Kilimanjaro Climb The 7-Day Machame Route is one of the best and most successful routes for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m). Known as the "Whiskey Route," it is celebrated for its spectacular scenery, diverse landscapes, and excellent acclimatization profile. The extra day on the mountain allows climbers to adjust more gradually to the altitude, increasing the chances of a successful summit while providing a more enjoyable trekking experience. Your adventure begins at Machame Gate (1,800 m) and winds through lush rainforest, home to towering trees, colorful birds, and playful colobus and blue monkeys. As you ascend, the scenery changes dramatically through heath and moorland, alpine desert, and finally the glacier-covered Arctic zone near the summit. A key highlight of the route is the trek to Lava Tower (4,630 m) before descending to Barranco Camp (3,950 m). This "climb high, sleep low" approach helps your body acclimatize naturally. The following day, you'll conquer the famous Barranco Wall, one of the most exciting sections of the climb, before continuing to Karanga Camp and then Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt. The summit climb begins around midnight, leading you to Stella Point before reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) at sunrise. Standing on the Roof of Africa as the sun rises over the glaciers and surrounding plains is an unforgettable reward for your determination. After celebrating your achievement, you'll descend to Mweka Camp and complete the journey at Mweka Gate.
