7 Days Lemosho Route
Lemosho Route 7-Day Kilimanjaro Climb The 7-Day Lemosho Route is one of the most scenic and rewarding ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m). Renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, quieter trails, and excellent acclimatization profile, the Lemosho Route is a favorite among trekkers seeking a less crowded and more immersive mountain experience. Starting on the remote western side of Kilimanjaro, the route offers spectacular views and a gradual ascent, giving climbers a strong chance of reaching the summit. Your adventure begins at Londorossi Gate, followed by a drive to the trailhead at Lemosho Glades. The trek starts through lush montane rainforest, where you may encounter colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and a variety of birdlife. As you climb higher, the landscape opens into heather and moorland with panoramic views of the Shira Plateau, one of the largest high-altitude plateaus in the world. The route continues east across the Shira Plateau before ascending to Lava Tower (4,630 m). After reaching this high point, you'll descend to Barranco Camp (3,950 m), following the "climb high, sleep low" principle that helps improve acclimatization. The next day brings the exciting ascent of the famous Barranco Wall, followed by a trek to Karanga Camp and then Barafu Camp, the base for the summit attempt. Around midnight, you'll begin the final climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Watching the sunrise from the Roof of Africa is an unforgettable moment, with panoramic views of glaciers, volcanic landscapes, and the plains stretching across Tanzania and Kenya. After celebrating your achievement, you'll descend to Mweka Camp before completing your adventure at Mweka Gate.
