8 Days Lemosho Route

Lemosho Route 8-Day Kilimanjaro Climb The 8-Day Lemosho Route is widely regarded as the premier route for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m). Combining stunning scenery, a gradual ascent, and excellent acclimatization, it offers one of the highest summit success rates of all Kilimanjaro routes. Starting on the remote western side of the mountain, the Lemosho Route provides a peaceful trekking experience with fewer crowds during the first days before joining the Machame Route. The journey begins at Londorossi Gate, followed by a drive to the Lemosho Glades, where your trek starts through lush montane rainforest. This rich ecosystem is home to towering trees, colorful birdlife, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. As you climb higher, the rainforest gives way to heath and moorland, offering spectacular views across the expansive Shira Plateau, one of Kilimanjaro's most remarkable volcanic features. The additional day on the mountain allows for a slower ascent and better acclimatization. You'll trek across the Shira Plateau, explore dramatic volcanic landscapes, and hike to Lava Tower (4,630 m) before descending to Barranco Camp (3,950 m). This "climb high, sleep low" strategy helps your body adapt to the altitude, significantly improving your chances of reaching the summit. The adventure continues with the ascent of the famous Barranco Wall, followed by an overnight stay at Karanga Camp before heading to Barafu Camp, the final base camp. Around midnight, you'll begin your summit attempt, reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) at sunrise. Standing on the Roof of Africa as the first light illuminates the glaciers and surrounding landscapes is a truly unforgettable experience. After celebrating your achievement, you'll descend to Mweka Camp before completing your trek at Mweka Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificate and return to Moshi.
